After a couple of years of running online festivals due to <waves hands> all of this, the lovely folks of The Whisky Lounge are heading south again, and kicking off their ‘we’ve passed the Watford Gap’ tour in Bristol on Saturday 2nd April 2022 – that’s this Saturday, as I type! And what’s more, I’ll be there.
The Whisky Lounge crew and I have been friends for a long time. From their first-ever London festival more than a decade ago, to their tastings above The Red Lion in St James’s, the tastings I used to run for them above The Red Lion, trips to Islay and many trips to the pub, Eddie and Amanda Ludlow have been there making sure I drink nice things and helping me along in my whisky journey, from amateur to alleged professional. When I heard they were heading south again, I dropped them an email asking if I could come and play – they said yes.
While I can’t make the London show on 14 and 15 May 2022 (I’m away on my first overseas holiday in a while – please don’t rob my flat), I will be heading down to Bristol to run masterclasses and hopefully sell a few books.
Masterclass line-up is still TBC, but the current plan is:
- Glen Moray 15 Year Old
- Kentucky Owl: The Wiseman (preview – launches on 4 April 2022)
- Lot 40
- Kavalan Podium
- The London Distillery Company 109 Cask Billy Abbott Edition (my cask)
- SMWS 134.10: Sooty Sausages (peated Paul John)
I don’t have all the whiskies in hand yet, so things may change, but the tasting is free, so it’s a good deal whatever happens!
You can grab tickets to the show and my tastings (which are almost sold out) over on The Whisky Lounge: Bristol Show Whisky Festival. If you’ve not got a ticket: grab one, and come and say hello. If you have: also come and say hello. I hope to see a few of you there.
Update: It was excellent. Thanks to everyone who came along to my tastings.
